Base salary: $155,000 – $325,000+

This full-time Federal Takings Litigation Attorney opening in Washington, DC is with a confidential public-law and regulatory practice. The successful candidate will analyze complex records and legal frameworks, write persuasively, and guide clients through agency, court, or public-sector processes. About the Role
This position offers intellectually demanding work, meaningful writing responsibility, and exposure to matters with significant public or business impact. Day to day, the person in this position will analyze complex records and legal frameworks, write persuasively, and guide clients through agency, court, or public-sector processes. The Washington search accounts for licensing, commute, hybrid expectations, and the premium placed on clear writing and professional judgment. During interviews, candidates can ask directly about reporting lines, workload, performance measures, and the reason for the opening.
Responsibilities
- Research statutes, regulations, precedent, administrative records, and jurisdiction-specific procedure.
- Draft briefs, motions, comments, submissions, contracts, or advisory materials.
- Prepare for hearings, appeals, negotiations, investigations, or agency interaction.
- Explain legal and procedural risk clearly to clients and internal teams.
- Take ownership of assigned matters and keep clients and supervising attorneys informed about deadlines, risk, and next steps.
Required Qualifications
- Government, regulatory, appellate, environmental, public-finance, or related litigation experience.
- Excellent legal research, analysis, and writing.
- Comfort with detailed records, procedural rules, and complex legal questions.
- Active or eligible state bar admission for attorney roles.
- Ability to manage priorities independently and communicate early when a decision or resource is needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with the employer’s practice area, matter type, and local court or transaction process.
- Comfort using modern legal research, document, case-management, or billing systems.
